Vietnam Bike Ride – 18 – 30 April 2018
Join us for a bespoke Itinerary that will take in the wonders of Northern Vietnam, as well as a whole day visiting local people who have benefited from loans through Lendwithcare.
This unique trip starts with a night on a ‘Junk boat’ in the famous Ha Long Bay, before starting the 500km challenging ride which will take us South West, before heading up in a loop, back to Hanoi, taking in several National Parks and Nature Reserves on the way.
On day 9 of the trip we will have the opportunity to find out about how Lendwithcare works in more detail, as well as meeting people who have received loans in the area. This will help us develop a really good understanding of local life, the local economy and the impact that loans can have on local families.
“What an honour! To be able to see a country on a bike and to be supported every km of the way by a team of wonderful people just made it that much more magical. I will never forget the radiant fields of rice as far as the eye could see, the smile of the entrepreneurs. I've never done anything that cool in my life. And I'll be doing it again next year if possible!”Laos to Cambodia Bike Ride participant
Our 500km circular route cycling challenge will begin in Hanoi and take us through some incredible countryside where we’ll visit some fantastic locations in Northern Vietnam.
We will enjoy the spectacular seascape on an iconic Huong Hai Junk boat in the Ha Long Bay, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where we will glide across the emerald waters of the bay. We will then cycle immersed in nature through Cuc Phuong national Park, Tam Coc and Pu Luong Nature Reserve. These areas are blessed with rich forest, limestone panoramas, magnificent rice terraces and breath-taking scenery.
Heading east we will arrive at Hoah Binh where we will meet entrepreneurs who have had their lives changes after receiving a loan from Lendwithcare, allowing them to start or grow a business and provide them with a sustainable income.
We will make the most of our final time in the saddle together as will cycle back to Hanoi where our unforgettable challenge will come to an end.

Will people think they’re sponsoring me to go on a holiday?
This challenge is tough, for many reasons. Some people find being far from home in a new country as tough as the cycling itself, a challenging 500km over 8 days, and we can guarantee that although you will have an amazing time, it will not be your average holiday!
It is also common for people taking part to contribute personally to the costs themselves which ensures all fundraising goes to CARE. Whilst this isn’t always possible, if this is something you want to do you could consider making a donation monthly onto your online sponsorship page towards your costs.
Where does my sponsorship money go?
Your funds will support CARE International. CARE is one of the world’s top aid agencies, fighting poverty and injustice in over 70 countries around the world and helping vulnerable people to find routes out of poverty. We deliver long term programmes to fight poverty, and are always among the first to respond to emergencies. We can’t do any of our life saving work without the support of people like you.
