Calixta needed £641.24 for her business.
Calixta Ybañez is a 53 year old married woman with two children. Both her children are married and one of them still lives with her with their child in the village of Lamac which is in the town of Pinamungajan in Cebu province.
To deal with their living expenses, Calixta started to sell cloths, curtains, ready to wear clothes, cosmetics and more. She brings with her one sample of all her items, put it in a large plastic buckets and markets her products house to house. She offers her products both in cash and credit. As the years passed, her business progressed and now she rent two small space for 3,000 pesos a month.
She now sells wide variety of tupperwares, plastic cabinets, buckets, ready to wear clothes, slipers, shoes, sandals, school supplies and many more. Her shop has been running for more than five years now. Her shop is open everyday and earns a daily sales of 500 to 1,000 pesos.
Because of her hardwork, Calixta was able to send her children to highest education
and now have a job to support their own family as well.Calixta has been a loyal member of the microfinance organisation, Lamac Multi-Purpose Cooperative. She has been a member for thirteen years and successfully repaid several loans.
She requested another loan last 26th of July in order to have the funds to buy clothing of boy scout and girl scout uniforms. She will also buy Filipiniana costumes for children for this is month is a month to celebrate ‘Buwan ng Wika’ mostly at schools. It is a one week celebration to promote the national language.
The rest of the funds will be use to buy additional stocks to sell at her shop.
Calixta hopes to sustain what she is earning for her to deal with their household expenses
and give support to her children as well. She promise to repay her loan over 6 months.
