Loan description:
Dang Van Toan is a 28 year old man from Moc Chau, a rural district in northwest Vietnam, where he lives with his wife and 5 year old daughter.
He and his wife farm 4000 square meters of land where they produce plums and rice, which are sold to the local community.
They make a profit of about $134 a month.
Though Mr Toan has a smaller amount of land and similarly smaller amount of produce compared to others in the community, he works to produce the highest quality crops possible.
In order to compete successfully in the market, he needs more land. He is requesting a loan of $465 which he will invest in 12 bags of fertiliser to increase this year’s crop.
The higher crop yield will allow him to save up some income to invest in buying more land in the near future.
Mr. Toan will pay the loan back in 24 monthly instalments.
