Rosa Condoy runs a market stall in the city of Loja selling some fruits but mostly vegetables. She is married with eight adult children. All of them are financially independent, although the youngest still lives at home. Her husband works for a construction company. Doña Rosa works long hours. Early in the morning she goes to the small producers market to buy the merchandise from wholesalers. She then returns to stock and arrange her market stall. She also delivers to a variety of restaurants in the city. Doña Rosa began the business around 24 years ago. She works six days a week at the stall from 6 am to 3 pm. She earns around $545 per month. Doña Rosa requested a loan to use as working capital buying more cassava, beans, potatoes, maize and carrots.
