Namwalisamba needed £946.67 for their business.
The Namwalisamba Group is made up of 16 women who live and work in the Blantyre area. All of the women are married except for 2 who are divorced. The women have 52 children and 7 dependents (elderly relatives and orphans) who they care for between them. All the women in the Namwalisamba group run small businesses, mainly selling fish, snacks, vegetables and clothes. Many of the women started their businesses so that they could have the freedom of being self-employed and financially independent, and so that they could provide for their families.
Stellia, who is 32 years old, is a member of this group. She is married and has 6 children. Her husband works as a security guard and Stellia sells groceries to earn a living. Stellia will use her share of the group loan to order more groceries and pay for transportation. She began running her business 5 years ago, having started it to help to provide for her family. Stellia is very motivated to improve her living standards so that her family can be happy and healthy. Her aim is to increase her capital to £200 with the help of this loan. The group will repay their loan over 4 months.
