Twabane Group needed £1672.67 for their business.
The Twabane women’s group is based in Choma in Southern Zambia. It has a membership of 15 women who are aged between 22 and 55. Some women in this group are married, some are single and others divorced. Most of the ladies have children who are in school and they also care for orphans who they fund the schooling for. They run different small scale businesses which include selling vegetables, clothes and groceries at stalls and shops of different sizes. Each lady will use her share of the loan to bulk buy stock so that they can grow their businesses and their profit.
Effelia is 46 years old and is married with nine children who are all in school. Effelia runs a market stall selling different types of fresh vegetables like cabbage, Chinese cabbage, green peppers, tomatoes and onions. She started her business to be able to support her family’s income which they can spend on food and sending her children to school. Effelia also enjoys being financially independent. She will use her loan to bulk buy more stocks of vegetables for her stall and she hopes to be able to expand her stall and to diversify what she sells in the future. The group will repay their loan over 7 months.
