Blue Rubies Group needs just £728.33 to complete their loan
Maureen Choto is one of the member of the Blue Rubies Group. She is a serious cross border trader and is involved in poultry business. She restocks her products from Zambia and Botswana and resells them in her neighbourhood. She is 36 years old, married and has two children, she lives with her family in Westhood, Harare. Her husband is a salesman at a local shoe shop. Maureen started her business by supplying orders to individuals who were not able to cross the borders.
An increase in orders was calling for additional funds so she joined Thrive Microfinance. She attended financial training with her group members. Maureen and her members learnt how they can market their products to expand their market share. They also learnt how to improve their business activities and reduce overhead costs. The group applied for a loan to invest in their businesses. Maureen intends to use her portion of the loan to buy broilers and feeds to boost her poultry business. In addition, she wants to buy blankets and java material for winter.
Please note that Zimbabwe is at present going through a severe economic recession and that there is an additional risk that some of the loans might be delayed or defaulted. You can find more information here.
