Elmer fernando needed £1666.67 for his business.
Don Elmer Ontaneda is a young small-scale farmer who has been growing maize and rearing pigs and chickens since he finished secondary school. He began farming with a gift from his father of maize seeds and two piglets as well as around one quarter of a hectare of land. He lives near the small town of Cariamanga in southern Ecuador. Even though he faces some problems due to the lack of permanent water and good roads, he is determined to get ahead. Don Elmer has a two-year-old daughter who lives with her mother and he provides financial support. Currently, Don Elmer has around two hectares of maize planted and he has ten pigs. Every month, he sells one pig for $300 dollars, 20 hens at $13 each and every four months five tonnes of maize for $1,500. He can make around $750 profit per month. Don Elmer requested a loan to buy one and half tonnes of ground maize, and 500 kilograms of specialist feed, and the remaining amount will be used to pay three labourers to help him harvest and then plough and prepare the land ready for the next sowing.
