Loan description:
Maria Delilah Alvarez is a 49 year old woman, married to Manuel who is a 51 year old seaman. They have one child age who is 10 years old and they all live in a village called Arpili which is in the town of Balamban in Cebu province. Maria Delilah has been a housewife who takes care of everything in the household especially in taking care of her only child. Now that her child is able to take care of herself, she decided to start and open a business that is focused on selling consumable goods and educational supplies. Maria Delilah found a vacant stall near a local elementary school and the rent is 2,500 pesos (£36) a month. In order to have the capital to open her business, Maria Delilah requested a loan from her MFI,
Lamac Multi-Purpose Cooperative, where she has been a member for 11 years now and has successfully repaid four past loans. She will hire people to build wooden shelves where she can display her products properly and to paint the walls inside her stall. She will also purchase large glass cabinets to keep safe her edible goods. The rest of the funds will be used to purchase a wide variety of produce such as chips, sweets, biscuits, cold beverages and school supplies such as notebooks, paper, pens, pencils, art papers and more. She will open her stall on the 4th of June this year when the schools reopen for the start of term.
Maria Delilah hopes her business will grow and earn an income so she can repay her loan. She promise to repay her loan over 12 months.
