Rosalina Aguitong is a 39-year-old, she is married with four children ages between 13 to 18 years old. All her children attend school. She is married to Abundio who is a 38-year-old farmer and businessperson. They all live in the village of Caleriohan which is in the town of Dalaguete in Cebu province. Rosalina operates two stalls in the market of Caleriohan. Her first stall is located inside the market, there she sells basic commodities such as cold drinks, rice and corn. On her second stall which is outside the market, she sells animal feeds for chicken and hogs. Through her business she created two jobs who help her in managing the two stalls. Her stall is open every day from 7 in the morning until 5 in the afternoon. On the other hand, Abundio her husband manages their farming business. He ploughs about three hectares of land where he grows cabbages, squash, spring onions, eggplant and chili pepper. He hires five full time worker who will take care of his crops while he stays and manage his own business which is located outside the market. He owns the space where his farm inputs are being displayed. He accepts credit for few of his trusted co-farmers. He hires one male who will help him in lifting heavy sacks and attending to customers’ orders. He earns an average sale of £42 a day. To access more working capital for their business, Rosalina applied for her second loan to Lamac Multi-Purpose Cooperative. She will use 60% of the funds to finance her husband’s business. Abundio will purchase additional fertilisers, insecticides, plant vitamins and weed killer. He wanted to have more variety of farm inputs, so his customers can choose either the cheapest or the most expensive one. The rest of the funds will be used to purchase animal feeds and grocery items. The couple hopes their business will grow even more and earn more income, so they could start saving for their children’s college education. She promises to repay her loan in 8 months.
