Ansong Sok Village, Prek Norin Commune,, Cambodia
Tith needed £1258.89 for his business.
Tith Sean is a smallholder farmer from Prek Norin Commune in Battambang province in northwestern Cambodia. He is married with four adult children. Tith and his wife grow rice on around two hectares of land. The yield is around two tonnes per hectare. Once the rice is harvested he grows beans on the same area of land and can expect a yield of around 800 kilograms per hectare. He always sells to a local merchant. During rainy season he fishes in the local rivers and flooded fields and can earn up to $10 per day from selling his catch. He uses a very small boat and traditional fishing equipment. Tith requested a loan in order to purchase good quality seeds, fertiliser and other crop protection products, pay for ploughing the land in preparation for sowing and he will keep some money to cover part of the costs of harvesting. A part of the loan is also for a new boat, fishing net and bamboo cage which is used to catch the fish.
