Ratha

Loan description:

Mr. Ratha is 34 years old and he has been a farmer for over 10 years. He currently grows rice on 11 hectares of land, growing short term rice. This enables him to get three tonnes of crops per hectare to sell. All of his crops will be sold directly to the local merchant who buys from his farm after his crops have been harvested. As well as this rice farming he also grows green beans on another three hectares of land. In a period of just 90 days he can collect 800 kilograms of crops per hectare to sell. He generally grows green beans in January and harvests in March or April. It has been useful for his farming to use his own tractor to plough the land. Over the last 5 years this has enabled him to cut down some costs and plough the land on time like his villagers. To make sure he has a strong working capital on his farm then he applied for this 36 month loan in order to purchase good quality seeds, pesticide, weed killer, diesel for his tractor to plough the land, and to cover the harvesting costs (he rents threshing to harvest his rice crops and the rental cost is around $100 per hectare).
