Placide needed £1271.11 for his business.
Placide Gasore is 21 and lives with his mother and two siblings. His father died when he was still in secondary school and as a consequence he dropped out of school because his mother could not afford to pay the school fees. However, he learned to drive and his mother paid for him to go to driving school and he obtained his license. Placide started renting motorcycles from others and offering a taxi service. With his income he helped his mother establish a small cafe from where she sells tea, juices and other soft drinks and a small range of food. He also started saving to buy his own motorcycle. He is part of a CARE established savings group. Placide requested a loan to add to his savings so that he can buy his own motorcycle to use as a taxi rather than renting one from others. The area where he lives is quite remote and many people do not have access to buses let alone cars. Motorcycle taxis are the only option for many people, other than walking. In the future, Placide sees himself buying more motorcycles so that he may help other young people also as well as eanring more money for himself.
