Adonis needed £447.75 for his business.
Adonis Trazona is a 36 year old farmer married to Cesaria, who is 37 years old. They have two children age 11 and 18 years old. Both of them are attending the local school in their place called Sudlon II, in Cebu province. The couple have been engaged in their farming business since they started their own family. They have been supporting their needs from the income they earn in selling the crops to local buyers
and to the Carbon market in Cebu city. Adonis has planted 2,000 eggplant seedlings and started to harvest more than 1,500 kg in the last three months. He still continues to harvest once or twice a week and sell it to his regular buyers. He earns $100 to $120 a week.
He ploughs two different areas of land that are near to each other. He gives a portion of his harvest to the land owner as a sign of gratitude for letting him use the land for farming. He employs two labourers who help him in taking care of his crops. Adonis requested his first loan from Lendwithcare’s microfinance partner, Lamac Multi-Purpose Cooperative, in order to access more capital to purchase farm inputs such as fertilisers and crop protection products to ensure his plants will produce a volume quality of fruits. He will also purchase tomato and cabbage seeds that he will plant early next month. He will also buy one unit of gasoline for his water pump and one hundred metres of water hose, which will cost about 9,000 Philippine pesos (about £121), to replace his old damaged hose. Adonis wants to earn more than his usual harvest so he can start saving for his children’s future, especially in sending them to the highest education. He will repay his loan over the period of twelve months.
