Chhouk Village, Mak Kak Commune,, Cambodia
Dea needed £1464.86 for her business.
Mrs. Dea is 38 years old and she has been working as a farmer for over 10 years. At the moment she and her husband grow rice crops on one hectare of land, where they grow wet season rice. They get a yield of 2.5 tones to sell. They sell their crops directly to their local merchants, who buy from their home after the crops have already been collected. To get an extra income for their family they also raise a cow at their home. In 2 years’ time they plan to sell it on. To make sure they have a strong working capital on both their rice and cow farming they have requested to borrow this 36 month loan in order to purchase some seeds, fertilizer, pesticide and weed killer, as well as pay for the ploughing costs and cover the harvesting costs. A part of the loan will also be used to buy a cow to raise. They will need to rear it for around 2 years in order to sell it on. This will give her two cows to raise at home. She has four children, aged between 19 and 21 years old.
