Dorn needed £921.15 for his business.
Mr. Dorn is 55 years old and he has three children, aged between 14 and 22 years old. His youngest is at school. Presently he and his wife grow rice on around 3,000 square metres of land. They grow dry season rice. They can farm their rice twice a year, and in a period of around 90 days can collect 2 tonnes of crops to sell. To get more rice crops to sell he also rents another plot of land of around five more hectares to grow dry season rice. The renting cost is around $150 per hectare for a year and he in this time he gets four tonnes of crops per hectare to sell. The crops will be sold directly to local merchants. To get a strong working capital on his rice farm he applied for this 18 month loan in order to purchase some fertiliser, pesticide, weed killer, diesel for his tractor to plough the land (the plough costs for one hectare is around $40) and to cover the rental costs of the land.
