Ecuador
Loan description:
Ninfa Delicia Chuncho lives in the city of Loja in southern Ecuador. She is a widow with three adult daughters and two adult sons all of whom are married and independent. However, she has two grandchildren who live with her and help her with her work. Doña Ninfa has been running a food market stall in one of the municipality markets for the past ten years or so. Prior to that, she used to sell food as a street hawker, but her customers encouraged her to apply for a stall at the market. Doña Ninfa feels proud to have given her children a good education and even helped to cover her grandchildren’s education. Doña Ninfa requested a loan to buy ingredients in bulk for her food market stall. This includes several sacks of rice, sugar, flour and cartons of cooking oil. She expects to repay the loan over 12 monthly installments
