Razia Begum lives in an area called China Scheme which is in the city of Lahore in north-eastern Pakistan. She is married and has one son who is disabled. For the past 15 years or so she has run a grocery shop selling a range of basic foods, sweets and drinks. Razia Begum estimates that she earns a monthly profit of around £95 per month. Her husband helps out. She requested a loan from our local partner organisation, Akhuwat, to buy extra items for the shop including lentils, cooking oil, spices, soaps, and washing powder.
