The women run small businesses mainly selling fish, snacks, vegetables, groceries, cereals, livestock, cooked food and clothes along the roads or markets in their area. They have requested a loan in order to invest in their various businesses. Mercy is 30 years old. She is married with 4 children and also looks after one relative. Her husband runs a small business. Mercy owns a butcher shop. She requires money to purchase pigs. She will also buy beans for re-sale. The proceeds from the business will enable her to pay school fees for her children. She started the business to be financially independent and has been running the business for 4 years. Her ambition is to open a wholesale shop, improve her family’s life and build a house for her family.
