Henry patricio needed £2408.76 for his business.
Henry Patricio Guajala is a smallholder farmer from near the small town of Catacocha in southern Ecuador. Mostly Don Henry rears and sells pigs. He is helped out by his wife Diana Ganazhapa. They have two young children. Usually, Don Henry buys piglets, fattens them for 3-4 months befor selling them for their meat to local butchers in Catacocha. Customers will visit him on his farm to select animals to buy. In addition, Don Henry cultivates improved maize on land his mother-in-law rents. Much of the harvest is sold in Catacocha to small processors while a small part is kept as pig feed. Don Henry started growing maize around six years ago as soon as he finished school. He has focused on pig farming since he married. At present he sells 5-6 pigs every three months - each animal sells for around $300 depending on weight. His income increases with the maize harvest. Don Henry requested a loan to buy more piglets as he wants to increase the numbers he raises. He will also buy pig feed, fertiliser for his maize and pay three labourers to help him ploughing and preparing land.
