These women have children who are in school and they also take care of orphans who are also in schools. The group is based in the Petauke district of Zambia. The women run small scale businesses such as selling tomatoes, fresh and dry fish, groceries and fruits with the hope of uplifting their living conditions.
44 years old Rhodah Phiri is a member of this group. She runs a market stall selling different types of kapenta (small fish), tomatoes, onions and beans in the local market. She is married with two school going children. She started this business in order to boost her family’s financial and economical status. She is requesting for this loan as a top up capital to order more stocks of kapenta, groundnuts and beans for her stall. After ordering these things her business will attract a lot of customers hence she will make more profits. She runs her business with the help of her relatives but hopes to employ someone soon.
