Naneth Pedroza is a 52 year old married woman with one child who is a graduating college student. Her husband’s name is Gamaliel. He is a 51 year old seaman. They all live in the village of Poblacion which is in the town of San Remegio in the Cebu province. Ma. Naneth manages a meat stall in the public market of Bogo city since 1997. She rents 5 stalls for $20 each. Every day her stall opens from 4 in the morning until 7 in the evening.
She hires two full-time female employees to help her manage her stalls. She sells dressed chicken, pork, food seasonings, charcoal and chorizo. Ma. Naneth also hires one male worker who will make chorizo out of the unsold pork at her stall. To increase her working capital, Ma. Naneth requested loans from Lendwithcare’s microfinance partner Lamac Multi-Purpose Cooperative. In over a year of being a member she has repaid two past loans. She requested this larger loan in order to have the capital to purchase her daily products to sell at her stall. She will also use the loan money to acquire another stall in the public market of San Remegio and sell meat there as well.
Ma. Naneth hopes her business will continue to grow even more and that her soon-to-open new outlet will succeed. She promises to repay her loan in six months.
