Catherine needed £524.44 for her business.
Catherine Bonganciso is a mother of two. Her children are 18 and 14 years old. Her eldest is in 3rd year college while the other child is in grade 7. She is married to Rey, who is a 43 year old company worker. They all live in the village of Bonbon in Cebu province. Catherine was once working in the same company of her husband but decided to stop and start a small ‘sari-sari’, or convenience store, at their place.
At first she started with a capital of just 10,000 Philippine pesos (about £139) and stayed on a small wooden store. After 10 years of running her business she was able to expand and build a much bigger space for her to display all of her products. At 4 in the afternoon she
also sells grilled pork, chicken and hotdogs. Her parents and one trusted worker is helping her run her business. To access more working capital, Catherine became a member of Lendwithcare microfinance partner, Lamac Multi-Purpose Cooperative. She has requested her first loan and promises to repay her loan within six months. Catherine will use the loan money to purchase more stock to sell like
rice and animal feeds which is very popular at her store. She aims to generate more sales so she can finish building her new store.
