Estela Victoria Vicente lives in the small town of Catamayo. She has four adult and independent children. Doña Estela has run a restaurant for the last 35 years or so. She provides breakfasts and lunches to workers employed in a local sugar factory. She works from 7 am to 6pm. Her daughter and an assistant help her with customer service from Mondays to Fridays. On Saturdays and Sundays she only works with her daughter. When she started, the restaurant was quite small but it has grown because of the custom from the sugar company - she has around 100 customers each day and she has bought all her own chairs, tables and other furniture and equipment. Doña Estela earns a net profit of around $305 each month. She requested a loan to buy all the ingredients she most uses in bulk as it entitles her to a small discount. This includes rice, sugar, oil, and flour.
