Ta Kot Village, Kdol Commune,, Cambodia
Sithat needed £997.75 for his business.
Mr. Sitha is 34 years old and has four children, aged between 1 and 13. He has been a farmer for 10 years and currently grows maize on two hectares of land. His maize crops yield about five tons per hectare, which he sells to a middleman will comes to his farm. Growing this type of crop means he is able to farm twice a year since the maize only takes 90 days to grow before it is ready to sell. In addition to maize he also grows cucumbers on one hectare and he can sell his cucumbers after 30 days. On this same plot of land, he also grows green beans and produces around 600 kilograms to sell. To make sure he has a strong working capital for his farm he has borrowed a 24 month loan in order to purchase good quality seeds, pesticide, weed killer and to cover the cost of ploughing his land.
