Sa leab needed £997.75 for her business.
Mrs. Sa leab Soum who is featured in the photo has been a farmer for over 15 year. She grows rice on a farm land that is around four hectares. She grows short term rice which takes a period of three months to get ready for collection. She gets two tonnes of crops per hectare to supply on the market. Aside from her rice farming she also grows green beans on two hectares of the same land once she has harvested her rice crops. She gets 800 kilograms of green beans per hectare for sale. A middleman buys the crops from her home once she has harvested them. In addition to rice and green beans, she also grows watermelons and spends around 2 months cultivating these before she can sell them to a middleman. To make sure she can farm both her green beans and watermelons on time like the previous year she has requested a 24 month loan to purchase good quality seeds, some commercial fertilizer, pesticide, weed killer and diesel for her tractor. She is 37 years old and has two children, aged 6 and 10, both of them are in school.
