Blessed Brains Group needed £1307.69 for their business.
Mutendana Mavheneka is a 43 year old mother of 4 children, 3 of whom are still in school. She is married to a truck driver who drives to Zambia, Tanzania and South Africa with deliveries. Mutendana is a cross border trader and travels to both South Africa and Zambia to buy stock to sell in Zimbabwe. She crosses into Zambia and South Africa once or twice every month where she restocks blankets, sewing materials and duvets. She started this business to help her husband meet their family’s daily expenses, especially her children’s school fees .Mutendana restocks based on the orders she receives from her customers, to avoid stock piling. She supplies her goods locally and outside Harare, in Mazowe. Mutendana is a member of the group known as Blessed Brains. Members of the Blessed Brains group approached Thrive Microfinance seeking their third loan. It was then given a combined loan of $1700. Mutendana has received $600 of this loan and she will use it to restock duvets and blankets from South Africa as well as cover her travel fees and transportation.
Please note that Zimbabwe is at present going through a severe economic recession and that there is an additional risk that some of the loans might be delayed or defaulted. You can find more information here.
