Loan description:
Yolanda Maigua is 48 years old. She lives in the Cotacachi district. She is a widow and lives with her daughter and granddaughter, whom she supports financially. Her daughter is studying at university. Yolanda has been making and selling handicrafts since she was 29 years old. She sells necklaces and shawls between 5 and 15 dollars. Bags go for between 15 and 30 dollars. She says that sales increase during high season. The best months for sales are January and April. Through her business she earns around $200 a month.
Yolanda has requested a loan of $2,000 to be repaid over 18 months. She will use $1,000 to buy cow leather by the yard, to make shawls and bags. She will spend $300 on coral and plastic rosary beads to make into necklaces and earrings. With the remaining $700 she will repair the house to her roof, which was damaged by rain.
This will be Yolanda’s second Lendwithcare loan. With this new opportunity she will increase the variety of products that she sells in her business. Her plan is to increase her current income by 50%, as her greatest wish is to see her daughter finish her studies and to improve the living situation for her granddaughter within a year.
