Milton René Vélez is a smallholder farmer from near the town of Zamora in southern Ecuador. Don Milton has an infant daughter who lives with her mother. He breeds and sells cattle and also cultivates 'naranjilla', a type of small orange. At present he has eight head of cattle and one hectare of naranjilla. He does provide financial support for his daughter. Don Milton estimates he earns a profit of around $250 every month on average. He requested a loan to buy more cattle and also pay for ploughing the land so he can sow more naranjilla. He provides employment for one labourer.
