Apatsa Group has fully repaid their loan of £1517.19
The Apatsa group is made up of 17 women and is based at Chigwirizano in Lilongwe. These women run various small businesses such as restaurants and stalls selling fish, snacks, vegetables, groceries and clothes in order to earn a living and provide for their families. These women have children who depend upon them and the majority of these children go to school.
One member of the group, Jean, is aged 38. She is married with 3 children. She also looks after 3 orphans, 2 relatives and other 2 people. She runs a restaurant. She has requested a loan to purchase more stock, including a bag of rice, beans and chickens. The profits from her business will allow her to buy food for her family. She started the business to earn a living. She has been running the business for 8 years and currently has 2 employees. Her future plan is to expand her business, and run an additional business selling second hand clothes and purchase a plot of land for her family.
