Chizenje Group has fully repaid their loan of £2044.23
This loan is for a group named Chizenje women’s group, the group has 17 members, ranging from 25 to 68 years old. The group is based in the Chipata district of Zambia. All of these women are married and have children who are in school. They started their businesses for different reasons but mostly to reduce poverty levels within their families and to be independent. The group is applying for their third loan to top up on their already existing businesses.
Esnala Chirwa, 65, is a member of this group. She is married and has six children who are in school. She runs a market stall selling beans, kapenta (small fish), tomatoes and assorted vegetables. She has been doing this business at the busy market of her community for over twenty years now. She orders her products from farmers close to her village. She will use the loan money to buy potatoes, tomatoes, small fish and beans for her stall. Esnala will use part of her profits to send her children to school. She is also saving to buy a plot of land where she can build a family house. As a woman she is grateful and happy for the loans she has accessed as it has helped her look after her children and has been able to support herself.
