Loan description:
Qurico Belia is a 37 year old farmer who lives wife his family in the village called Nug-as which is in the town of Alcoy in Cebu province.
He is married to Elsa (shown in the picture) who is 28 years old. They have two children who are both attending in elementary level. Quirico was not around when I visited last Thursday 6 of July but his wife agreed to be interviewed on his behalf. Quirico is expose in farming activities since his childhood years and started to plough on his own 10 years ago. He grows chili pepper, onion leaf and cabbages. He gives a minimal yearly rent for the land he plough. Quirico employ four person who will help them in taking care of their crops aside from Elsa's brother who also help in the farm and lives with the family. To increase his working capital, Quirico availed his first loan from the MFI Lamac Multi-Purpose Cooperative. He will use the loan to purchase different kinds of fertilizers and crop protection products. He also set aside a portion of the loan to pay the labourer they hire. Elsa said that they will increase their volume of production by planting another set of chili peppers intended for the later months of harvest. to earn more than their usual earnings so they could provide a better way of living for their children. Quirico will repay his loan in
six months period.
