Mrs. Ol Pol is 57 years old and has been a farmer for over 30 years. She has three children, aged between 16 and 26 years old. Presently she and her husband cultivate cassava on a two hectare piece of land. The current yield from their land is ten tons of cassava root per hectare. They generally hire 10 villagers to assist them in planting and chopping the cassava root. Each villager could earn around $5 a day working for her. She is looking for a 12 month loan in order to purchase fertilizer, pesticide, weed killer, as well as to pay for ploughing costs and labour costs.
