Rehana Kousar works from home making artificial jewellery. She is a resident of Kot Khawaja Saeed, an area in the city of Lahore. She is 49 years old widowed and has two sons and one daughter. One of them is studying. About four years ago Rehana decided to establish her own business making and selling artificial jewellery from home. Women in Pakistan mostly wear jewellery at parties, festivals and wedding ceremonies. Rehana buys her materials (stones, gum, fancy yarn and jewellery shapes) from the market and then returns to sell to shopkeepers. Her son of age 24 also works with her. She manages to earn 17,000 rupees profit per month. This way, she is able to support her husband in managing their household expenses. She wants to expand her business so she can earn more. She requested a loan to visit the market to buy raw materials in bulk to lower the purchase cost.
