Mrs. Bui Thi Ly lives with her husband and their 10 year old child in an old house in Xom village, Nam Son commune. They are a traditional farmer family, earning a living through growing rice on a 1400 sq. meter plot of land and raising 2 buffaloes and 30 chickens. Her monthly income is around 95 USD on an average. Hoping the land to be more fertile, Mrs. Ly is applying for a loan from MACDI fund to buy fertilizer in order to make their land healthier and more potent. With the additional income, she plans to buy a bicycle for her child to get to school.
