Saleem needed £236.42 for his business.
Saleem Nazeer is 33 years old and lives in Nizam Abad, an area of Lahore. He is married with two sons and one daughters. Two of his children are getting education. He is the only person earning an income in his household. He runs a traditional embroidery business locally called ‘silma sitara’. His finished clothes are commonly worn by ladies at wedding events or festivals. He started this business about 20 years ago and manages to earn 18,000 Rupees profit (around $173) per month. He receives orders from retailers in different markets. He visits the retailers, who order the designs they want, and then he buys the necessary cloth and beads from a local market. He requested a loan to make a bulk purchase of the materials that he uses; specifically, chiffon cloth, false pearls, stones, and shiny fancy yarn in greater lengths and quantities. This bulk purchase will enable him to buy at a lower cost and will therefore increase his profit margin. He will pay his loan back in 17 instalments.
