Muhammad Aslam is a fancy yarn weaver. He is married and has one son and one daughter. One of his children is old enough to get an education. Aslam-sahib lives with his family in Badami Bagh, an area of the city of Lahore. Although he works hard to support his family, it is really hard to manage all of his household expenses. Aslam-sahib is the only earning member of his household. He makes fancy yarn which he then sells to shopkeepers. The yarn is later used for necklaces and other jewellery items. He has been in this business for the last 14 years. He earns about 19,000 rupees (about £139) per month. Aslam-sahib requested a loan in order to purchase yarn in bulk. He intends to expand his carpet-weaving business. With increased income he hopes to provide a better life for his family. He intends to pay back the loan in 17 installments.
