Indira has fully repaid her loan of £1200.65
Indira Celenka is 38 years old and married. She lives with her husband and two children in the city of Zenica in central Bosnia and Herzegovina. Velid is 8 and Mirsad is 10 and both attend primary school. After the Bosnian War Indira and her husband were not successful in finding long term permanent jobs - mainly because much of the heavy industry that dominated the area before the war was destroyed and what survived was no longer competitive. So they decided to start own business: beekeeping. They bought bees and beehives and started to produce honey. The business has expanded significantly and they have many regular customers and are always looking for new ones. Additionally, Indira also started a business in calligraphy. She takes a lot of orders especially for making ‘levha’ (Islamic Art typically Arabic prose from the Qur’an) plates. Indira has been a very good client of the microfinance foundation ‘Women for Women International’ for the last four years or so. She applied for a new loan because she wants to expand her beekeeping business. They have been receiving many orders and are unable to meet demand and have decided to buy more bees and beehives.
