Loan description:
Joel Manuel is 61 years old and married. He and his wife live in Poblacion, in the town of Asturias in Cebu province. Together they manage a small stall selling fruits. They tend to stock whatever is in season, at present they are selling lots of bananas. They have run the stall for 25 years. They have put their children through college and now each has a professional job and live separately in their own households. Joel has been a member of the microfinance organisation, First Consolidated, for the past year and has already received and repaid one loan. His second short term loan application is for three months, and has been sought in order to replenish stock. A part of the loan will be used to purchase of a new set of weighing scales and to make some modifications to the stall so that it is more attractive. Joel and his wife have thought of opening an additional stall nearer the town centre in the future.
