Loan description:
Leonisa Hortellano is 47 years old and married with 7 children. She lives with her family in the town of San Remigio in the province of Cebu. Leonisa wanted to help her husband meet household expenditure so about two years ago she decided to invest her savings in establishing a small grocery store next to her house. She opens the store everyday at six in the morning and closes it at ten in the evening. Her children assist her in attending to customers when they are not at school and accompany her whenever she needs to buy new stock. Leonisa offers a variety of products including canned foods, instant noodles, toothpastes, snacks, detergents, soaps and powdered drinks. She sought a loan from the microfinance organisation, First Consolidated, where she has been a member since she opened the store in order to purchase more stock for her store, specifically biscuits, coffee and soft drinks. She thinks she could expand the store if it continues to do well, particularly as household expenditure, especially the school fees of her children, continue to increase.
