Philippines
Loan description:
Marly Giducos is an active 63 year old businesswoman. She is single and lives in Bantayan, Cebu. Since she does not have any dependents, she often helps out relatives from time to time. She has tried various business ventures in the past including selling fried bananas and ice cream. For the past five years though she has settled on making peanut butter which most commonly in The Philippines is used as a sandwich filling. She uses fresh peanuts, oil, salt and butter to make the peanut butter and fills various sized containers which are then placed for sale. Marly also makes salted peanuts. She fills plastic bags with the peanuts and these are then ready for retail. She sells individually or in bulk. She has lots of regular customers. Marly has sought a loan from the microfinance organisation First Consolidated in order to buy raw materials and ingredients in bulk. A part of the loan will also be used to help establish a small stall and purchase kitchen utensils. If the business grows she wants to employ relatives in helping her out.
