Geraldine

Loan description:

Geraldine Espinoza is 37 years old and married with one child who goes to high school. She lives with her parents in the town of Remigio in Cebu province. Her husband has a job outside town. Geraldine manages a small general store from the front part her home. She has had the business for the past six years. She sells items people require everyday and these include household cleaning and personal hygiene products, powdered drinks, dried fish, eggs and food seasonings. Geraldine buys her stock from the town centre which is almost 2 kilometres away. She has to go quite frequently to the centre because her shop cannot stock a great quantity of each item. While she is absent her mother takes responsibility for running the shop. She has received and repaid two previous loans to the microfinance institution, First Consolidated, where she has been a member for two years. Her third loan is destined to buy new stock including snacks such as crisps, biscuits, condiments and vegetables. She intends to repay the loan over four months.
