Seu

Seu Neang is 46 years old and married with six children. The eldest is 21 and the youngest is 8. His two younger children attend the local school. Seu and his family live in Korkos village in the Thmor korl district of Battambang province. Seu has been a member of Chrey credit union for over two years. Seu and his wife, Vun Saloum, are farmers. They raise three cows, three pigs and a number of chickens. After completing a short course on how to raise chickens, which was sponsored by a local non-governmental organization, Seu's wife received one chicken and shares the cost of building a chicken cage. To increase their household income Seu and Vun have also been baking bamboo rice from their home for over five years. As their business starts to grow they need transport to deliver their bamboo rice to the local market. Seu has applied for a loan in order to buy a motorbike and will pay loan back in six months (the photograph shows Seu's wife, Vun).
