Loan description:
Hoeut Khut is 51 years old and married with one son and one daughter, who are both studying at university in Phnom Penh, the capital of Cambodia. She is a microentrepreneur, selling food and soft drinks and coffee, tea, and sugarcane juice. For the past three years she has managed a food stall located directly in front of a primary school. She has been a member of her local credit union since June 2006. Her clientele consists of schoolchildren, teachers, as well as other passersby. She works seven days a week. She has been seeking a loan to expand her business. Specifically she would like to improve and enlarge her stall, buying newer equipment to replace the old, and thereby ensuring that general hygiene and food quality improves. Although her business is small, she does expect to generate more income following the improvements as customers will more more attracted to visit. She wants to buy motorcycles (one of the most common type of transport in Cambodia) for her children, pay for university fees, and meet other expenses within the household. She also tries to allocate a small amount for regular saving that can be used in cases of emergency.
