Emielio Torrejos is a 56 year old husband and a father of two children. He manages a 'sari-sari' or general convenience store in the city of Toledo, Cebu. He has managed this business for more than 26 years and it has been his household's main source of income during this period of time, although in more recent years he does face competition from other nearby shops. Initially his business was very small with a imited amount of capital and stock, but he has over the years developed it considerably and it now offers a range of general household consumer items. He has sought a loan of around £430 for working capital, it will allow him to buy new stock in bulk, hopefully at discounted prices because he will be able to pay suppliers in cash. The loan will be repaid over six months.
