Josephine is a 45 year old woman, she is married to the man in the picture. They have 3 children, 2 of whom attend school. Josephine and her family live in Calavi. Josephine started to run businesses many years ago, when she left school, about 25 years ago. She is at present a well known trader in her town. She buys her stock at the Danktopa International market of Cotonou and she sells them at her shop, at the front of her house. Besides this activity, Josephine has a stall at the Danktopa market where she sells crops such as maize and rice at the market, her husband helps her in some of her activities. Josephine has been a customer of the microfinance institution ACFB for 9 years and at present she is applying for a loan worth 600,000 West African Francs to strengthen her capital and replenish stock for both her shops. The benefits that result from her trading activities will allow her to contribute to the household expenses and to ensure the education of her children.

Original text in French: Agée de 45 ans, Josephine est mariée à un aide soignant en retraite. Elle est mère de 03 enfants dont 02 scolarisés. Vivant à Hêvié avec sa famille Josephine s’était lancé dans le commerce juste après avoir abandonner l’école en classe de 2nde. Depuis environ 25 années, elle est devenue une grande commerçante de produits divers de sa localité. S’approvisionnant au grand marché de Dantokpa à Cotonou elle vend ses produits dans sa boutique à domicile. En plus de cette activité dame Joséphine dispose d’un Hangar au marché Dantokpa ou elle revend des produits vivriers qu’elle achète dans le même marché. Souvent aidée dans ses taches par son mari Joséphine bénéficie il ya de cela 9 ans des produits de l’ACFB. Pour le renforcement de son fond de commerce elle sollicite un crédit de 600000 FCFA qui servirait à l’achat des produits divers à hauteur de 300000FCA et des produits vivriers à hauteur de 300000FCFA. Les bénéfices réalisés lui permettraient de subvenir aux besoins de sa famille et d’assurer la scolarité de ses enfants.
