Loan description:
Sea Hou is 53 years old. Sea and her husband grow dry season rice on around one hectare which yields around three tonnes. To increase the amount of rice they produce for sale, Sea and her husband rent another hectare of land on which they also produce dry season rice. The cost to rent this additional hectare is around $250 a year. Since they grow dry season rice they are able to produce on their land twice a year because this crop only takes three months to cultivate before it is ready for harvest. To improve the efficiency of their rice farming, Sea has decided to ask for a twelve month loan in order to purchase a hand tractor to help them with operations on their farm. Sea and her husband aim to put their youngest child through school until high school (the photograph shows Sea her with her grandson).
