Larry Lapinig is 40 years old and has three children aged 13, 15 and 17. The family lives in Cebu province. For the past 25 years and along with his 39 year old wife, Elda, Larry runs a restaurant specialising in ‘lechon manok’ or roasted chicken. He has been a member of the microfinance organisation Lamac Multi-Purpose Cooperative for more than one year and is requesting a loan of $788 (30,000 Philippine pesos) to purchase more ingredients for his business. He has promised to repay this over a six month period. He hopes to hire additional staff in the future.
