Lucia Villarosa is 50 years old and has two children aged 9 and 21. Her 55 year old husband, Danilo, works overseas. The family lives in Cebu province. In 2004, Lucia started her own welding shop near her residence where she produces such items as metal screens, windows and vehicle parts. Two employees assist her in her work. In addition, Lucia also rents out karaoke equipment. Lucia has been a member of the microfinance organization Lamac Multi-Purpose Cooperative for three years and has already completed 3 loan cycles. She is now requesting a new loan of $1313 (50,000 Philippine pesos) to purchase more welding materials and for the maintenance of her welding machines and karaoke equipment. She has promised to repay this over a six month period.
