Loan description:
Shakeela Bibi is married with two sons and one daughter. She lives in the area of Kahna Nau in the large northeastern city of Lahore. Her husband is a labourer in a local factory and earns 10,000 rupees each month (around £65). Their eldest son, Muhammad Ehsan who is still in his teens (and pictured in the photograph) decided to start selling fruit from a stand to support the household finances. He is bringing in some income but he does not possess enough capital to buy fruit from the wholesalers in sufficient quantities. Therefore, Shakeela sought a loan of 15,000 rupees for her son to use as working capital. With cash at hand he can buy more stock at discounted prices. Muhammad Ehsan thinks he might make at least 6,000 rupees or around £40 each month now.
